FAQs

GENERAL

To keep your Comfort-Truss in good condition, follow these care instructions:

  • Hand wash only in lukewarm water using a mild detergent
  • Do not machine wash or dry
  • Air dry out of direct sunlight
  • Never twist or wring the belt to remove water. Instead, fold it and press down gently to release excess moisture
  • When removing the belt, always reattach the Velcro straps to the body of the belt and press them down firmly. This helps maintain the Velcro’s shape and grip over time

Proper care will help extend the life of your Comfort-Truss and keep it working as intended.

That really comes down to personal preference. I (George) personally wear the single-side hernia belt because I prefer to keep things as minimal as possible and avoid wearing anything more than I need. The single belt also allows for more targeted compression directly over the hernia, which usually makes it more effective at holding it in.

That said, plenty of people still choose the double-side hernia belt even with a hernia on just one side. Some like the way it feels more balanced from one side to the other, while others wear it as a preventative measure in case a hernia ever develops on the opposite side. It won’t cause any harm to go that route, but just keep in mind the double is a bit bulkier due to the extra leg strap and the wider front pad that covers both sides.

Yes, it was deigned to be worn under your underwear against the skin. This will give the best support, and also allow you to keep it on at all times throughout the day, even while using the toilet.

Comfort-Truss is designed for reducible inguinal hernias only.

View our instructions page for info about how to correctly put on and take off the Comfort-Truss.

Most hernia belts are bulky, uncomfortable, and not designed for people who want to stay active or manage their hernia naturally. Comfort-Truss was created by someone who couldn’t find a belt that worked — so he made one that does. It’s lightweight, low profile, and supportive enough to wear all day, whether you’re waiting for surgery or pursuing natural recovery.

Because of the nature of our product and for hygiene reasons, it’s very important to choose the correct size the first time. As outlined in our return policy, we can only accept returns on items that are in brand new, unworn condition and still sealed in the original packaging.

If your item is still unopened and meets those requirements, you can visit our  Return Policy page for instructions on how to start the return process.

If the package has already been opened or the product has been worn, we’re unfortunately unable to accept it for return. Please double-check your measurements before ordering, and feel free to reach out if you’re unsure about sizing—we’re happy to help you get it right the first time.

Comfort-Truss is designed with a minimalist approach that works well for most people, as reflected in our customer reviews. However, every hernia is different. In some cases, the hernia may be too advanced or internal pressure too great for our minimalist design to provide the desired support.

Because of this, we believe it would be misleading to guarantee that Comfort-Truss will work for everyone. While many people find relief using it, we do not offer a universal guarantee on the product.

We do not recommend wearing the Comfort-Truss while sleeping.

Yes, it will. Many women have used Comfort-Truss successfully, and several have left 5-star reviews sharing their positive experiences. You can find their feedback by browsing the product reviews on our site.

FITTING

For Men:

Match your pants waist size to the chart shown on the product page.

If you wear your pants big or tight, you can follow theses instructions on how to get the exact right fit:

Measure low around the waist, above the wide point of the hips, about 1 inch above the top of the pubic bone. Once you have that measurement, subtract 2 inches and compare the result to the sizing chart on the product page.

Example:
Measurement 1 inch above the pubic bone = 33 inches
-2 inches = 31"
31" = Small on the size chart

If you are between sizes on the chart, it is best to go with the smaller size for the MInimalist Comfort-Truss, and go with the higher size in the HD version. The Minimalist version stretches a lot more than the HD version which is why we make this recommendation.

For Women:

Since women's bodies are much different than men, to make sure you get the correct size, you should measure low around the waist, above the wide point of the hips, about 1 inch above the top of the pubic bone. Then you can match that measurement to the corresponding waist size on the size chart referenced above and shown on the product pages.

If you are between sizes on the chart, it is best to go with the smaller size for the MInimalist Comfort-Truss, and go with the higher size in the HD version. The Minimalist version stretches a lot more than the HD version which is why we make this recommendation.

For the Minimalist Comfort-Truss:

If you are between sizes, you may want to consider going with the smaller size. When you first receive the Comfort-Truss, it will be a little tight (as it should be). You might have to stretch the waist strap up to 5" to get the velcro fastened. After wearing it for a few days it will start to break in and stretch out a bit.

For the Comfort-Truss HD:

The HD stretches much less than the Minimalist due to the thickness of the material, so if you are between sizes on the chart, consider going with the next size up.

It would be your left or right while looking down at yourself.

To choose between the single or double-side hernia belts would depend on if you have a hernia on only one side, or if you have hernias on both sides. If you have a hernia on one side, you should go with a single side hernia belt. If you have a hernia on both sides, you should go with a double side.

We do have some customers who only have a hernia on one side but prefer to wear a double-side belt because they like the even feeling of it covering both sides, but it would be completely personal preference. If you have a large hernia with a lot of internal pressure, that seems like it would be hard to keep in using a belt, you would want to go with the HD (Heavy Duty) version.

If your hernia is small and won't need much to keep it in place, the Minimalist would be better.  There are many other factors that play into which one you should choose, such as comfortableness, durability, etc. Click here to see a comparison page showing the two different versions and their attributes next to each other: https://comfort-truss.com/pages/comfort-truss-comparison/

Because women’s body shapes differ from men’s, it’s important to measure carefully to ensure the best fit.

To get the correct size, measure low around your waist—just above the widest part of your hips and about 1 inch above the top of the pubic bone. Then match that measurement to the corresponding waist size on our size chart.

Note: Many petite women are surprised to find that they fall into a larger size on the chart when measured this way. That’s totally normal. Women typically have wider hips, which naturally results in a higher measurement in this area.
