How to Wear a Hernia Belt Correctly (Step-by-Step Guide) | Double Side Comfort-Truss

How To Wear a Double Side Hernia Belt

Hey guys, George here from Comfort-Truss. In this guide, I’m going to walk you through exactly how to put on the Double Side Comfort-Truss Hernia Belt the right way so you get the most out of it.

Whether you have a hernia on both sides or just prefer symmetrical support, the double-side belt gives you secure, adjustable compression without bulky materials.

✅ First Things First: It Might Look Too Small

When you first pull the belt out of the package, it might seem way too small to fit around your waist, but that’s totally normal.

The belt is made from high-performance fabric that stretches up to five inches, and it will loosen up during the first 1–2 weeks as it breaks in. If you’ve been wearing an older Comfort-Truss, the new one will feel smaller only because your old belt has stretched over time.

✅ Reduce Your Hernia Before Putting It On

Before putting the belt on, make sure your hernia is fully reduced. That means the lump is no longer visible or sticking out.

You may need to lie down or gently push it in with your hand. In some cases, you’ll need to massage it upward or let gravity assist while lying flat. If you can’t reduce the hernia, do not wear the belt and contact a doctor immediately.

✅ Why Choose the Double Side Belt?

The double side version is ideal if you:

  • Have hernias on both sides
  • Prefer the feel of even pressure
  • Want dual leg straps for balanced support

If you only have a hernia on one side, we usually recommend the single side version for more direct compression. But ultimately, it’s about what feels best for you.

✅ Step-by-Step: Putting On the Belt

1. Find the Label

The Comfort-Truss label marks the inside of the belt. Always wear the labeled side against your skin for proper alignment and all-day comfort.

💡 Pro Tip: Don’t wear it over your underwear. Wearing it directly on your skin allows you to use the bathroom without removing the belt.

2. Wrap the Waist Strap

Bring the waist strap around your back and fasten it in front — kind of like how a bra is fastened. You’ll need to stretch it up to 5 inches to get it snug.

Once secured, rotate the belt so the pads sit directly over both hernia areas.

3. Attach the Leg Straps

Now you’ll see two leg straps hanging on either side of your groin.

  • Take the right leg strap, bring it through your groin and thread it up through the slit in the waist strap, then fasten it securely above your right hip.
  • Repeat with the left leg strap, bringing it around your leg and up through the waist strap slit on the left side.

The strap should run underneath your butt in the crease between your hamstring and glute.

✅ Fine-Tune for Maximum Comfort

Once everything’s in place:

  • Adjust the Velcro tension on the waist and leg straps.
  • Apply more pressure if the hernia feels loose.
  • Loosen slightly if it feels too tight or restrictive.

If raw Velcro is rubbing your skin, that means you need to stretch the strap farther before fastening.

Final Thoughts

Once you’ve got the double side belt on correctly, it should feel snug, supportive, and balanced. The key is making micro adjustments until the hernias are fully held in and you're comfortable.

Like all Comfort-Truss products, this belt is made to help you stay active and confident while managing your hernia — whether you're riding, working, or just living life.
